How Often Should You Service Your AC?

There's no single answer that fits every AC — it depends heavily on how many hours a day it runs and how dusty the environment is. Here's the schedule we generally recommend to customers in Pekanbaru.

Home use (a few hours a day)

For a bedroom AC used mainly at night, cleaning every 3 months is usually enough to keep it running efficiently. Dust builds up slower with intermittent use, but skipping this entirely for 6+ months is where we start seeing cooling problems.

Home use (running most of the day)

If the AC runs 12+ hours a day — common in living rooms or for households with young children or elderly family members — we recommend cleaning every 2 months. The filter and evaporator collect dust much faster under continuous operation.

Office and commercial use

Office AC units typically run 8–10 hours a day, 5–6 days a week, and often serve more people in a smaller enclosed space. Monthly filter checks with a full clean every 1–2 months is the standard we follow for our corporate clients, since poor air quality in a workspace affects everyone, not just one person.

Signs you need servicing sooner, regardless of schedule

  • Cooling feels noticeably weaker than a few weeks ago
  • A musty smell when the AC is turned on
  • Any dripping or water stains near the indoor unit
  • Unusual noise that wasn't there before

Regular servicing is almost always cheaper than emergency repairs — a routine cleaning costs a fraction of a compressor or PCB replacement caused by years of neglect.
